Helene and Walter’s Favourite Hike - along the Jägersteil trail up to the Lercher Alm mountain pasture
Our best summer hike follows the old Jägersteig trail to the Lercher Alm mountain hut. This medium-level hike is fairly easy, but requires stamina. And it starts right from the front door of our hotel. After a short climb, the route leads along the Pyramidensteig trail past the church to the Earth Pyramids in Platten. It then crosses through the forest to reach the Peintner Wiesele pastures before joining with trail no. 6, taking you to the Jägerhütte mountain refuge along the old Jägersteig trail. Stop for a well-deserved rest at the Lercher Alm hut and enjoy the sun and nature before starting the gradual descent. To get back, follow the same route. The entire hike lasts about 3 hours.
To the Gönner Alm mountain pasture
Start this average hike from our Hotel Rommisa or the car park at the edge of the village. Follow the wide forest track along trail no. 6, then turn right and cross the forest as far as the Gönner Alm hut at 1,975 m. Please note that the final stretch up to the hut is harder. Lasting about two hours, the hike has an altitude variation of about 500 m. After reaching the Gönner Alm, go back via the same route. Alternative: You can also reach the Gönner Alm following trail 16a through the forest via the Earth Pyramids in Platten.
Route to the Schönbichl
Maybe a hike up to the summit could be a bit too demanding. If that’s what you’re wondering, this average hike up the Schönbichl might just be right for you. Start from the Hotel Rommisa or the lower parking lot between Oberwielenbach and Platten and follow hiking trail no. 1 to the Lercher Alm mountain hut (1,674 m), for a first stop. Continue along trail no. 1 behind the mountain refuge and then turn left onto trail no. 7B and follow the forest track until reaching the tree line and follow the trail to the summit at 2,452 m. Enjoy the breath-taking views of the Zillertal Alps and the Dolomites! Return the same way as the ascent, which should take about 6 hours to complete the 15 km hike. Take care, as the narrow climb across the slope is somewhat exposed.
To the Lercher Alm mountain pasture
This easy hike to the rustic Lercher Alm mountain refuge in Oberwielenbach is ideal for families and beginners. Starting from our Hotel Rommisa or the lower parking lot between Oberwielenbach and Platten, follow trail no. 1 as it branches off and leads along a slowly ascending forest path through the "Talile". After 2.5 km and 45 mins later and you arrive at the magnificent Lercher Alm (1,674 m). The route can also be negotiated with an all-road pram or stroller.
Up the Rammelstein
This difficult hike to the top of the Rammelstein above Oberwielenbach starts from the car park. Follow the way to the Gönner Alm mountain hut (1,975 m) and just before reaching the hut take trail no. 6 marked “Rammelstein”. First cross through the forest, then continue over the broad slopes before reaching the southern ridge that leads up to the summit. The last section is rather rocky and you need to stay alert. The ascent to the Rammelstein takes 3.5 hours. The challenging hike is only recommended for experienced and fit hikers. Return via the same route.
